1. Introduction

The University provides excellent research facilities and services for postgraduate students. This includes an experienced pool of academics from UTP and visiting lecturers from UTP partners and industry experts. In addition, students have access to industry data and practices for project work; they can also utilise the latest software tools and simulation packages currently used by the industry.

Students will also benefit from studying in a dynamic research environment where the university’s Mission Oriented Research (MORs) in nine thematic areas encourages interdisciplinary and translationary research work to flourish within the campus.

2. Entry requirements

  • A Master’s degree in the field or related field as accepted by the HEP Senate;
    OR
    Other qualifications equivalent to a Master’s degree recognized by the Government of Malaysia;
  • IELTS 6.0/ TOEFL 550
    *Exemption if medium of instruction during Master studies was in English

3. Enrollment time

All year round 

(shortlisted candidates will be included in the cohort of the latest semester)

4. Duration

  • Minimum – 3 years
  • Maximum – 6 years

6. Go back and forth

  • 3 months cumulative/year
    OR 12 months cumulative/4 years in UTP
  • 09 months cumulative/year in TDU

7. Graduation requirements

  • Complete compulsory course – Research Methodology
  • Complete PhD Thesis:
    • Written in English
    • Abstract of 5,000 – 10,000 words
    • Manuscript is no longer than 80,000 words
  • Publications
    • 01 articles published in Scopus indexed Journal
    • 01 articles published in ISI indexed Journal
    • 01 paper presented at an international conference
  • Pass Viva Voce examination

8. Fee & Payments

  1. Registration fee

    • Application Fee: RM 200 (≈ VND 1,000,000)
    • Registration Fee: RM 1400 (≈ VND 7,400,000)
    • Commitment Fee: RM 800 (≈ VND 4,200,000)
    • Personal Bond: RM 3000 (≈ VND 15,800,000)

  2. Tuition fees

    • Research Methodology: RM 1500 once-off (≈ VND 7,900,000)
    • Viva/ Assessment fee: RM 1500 (≈ VND 7,900,000)
    • Tuition fee: RM 8000/ year (≈ VND 42,000,000/ year)
    • according to registered program
    • Resources fee: RM 2400/ year (≈ VND 12,600,000)
