1. Introduction

The PhD in Finance is a research programme proposed for relevant Master’s degree holders to further pursuing and advancing their research in the area of Finance. The programme aims to produce graduates who are equipped with in-depth and advanced knowledge in their research area, trained with practical and analytical skills for problem solving and soluition development, statistical skills for results evaluation and interpretation towards achieving conclusions, as well as mastered in communication skills and other essential soft-skills.

Throughout the duration of study (3 years for full time or 4 years for part-time), candidates are required to completed TWO (2) taught courses, ie. Research Methodology and the Advanced Data Analysis for Economics and Business Research. At the end of their candidature period, candidates are required to submit their doctoral thesis and pass the viva voce before their PhD degree are conferred.

2. Entry requirements

  • A Master’s degree in the field or related field as accepted by the HEP Senate;
    OR
    Other qualifications equivalent to a Master’s degree recognized by the Government of Malaysia;
  • IELTS Band 6.5 or CEFR High B2 or TOEFL iBT 79 or equivalent;
    *Exemption if medium of instruction during Master studies was in English

3. Enrollment time

All year round

(shortlisted candidates will be included in the cohort of the latest semester)

4. Duration

  • Minimum – 3 years
  • Maximum – 6 years

5. Curriculum

  • Research Methodology
  • Advanced Data Analysis for Economics and Business Research
  • Doctoral Thesis

6. Go back and forth

  • The 1st semester, complete the first two course in TAR UC
  • Each year after, stay in Malaysia for 01 month to renew visa/ passport
  • The last semester, stay about 01 – 02 months to finish graduating procedure

7. Graduation requirements

  • Complete compulsory course
    • Research Methodology
    • Advanced Data Analysis for Economics and Business Research
  • Complete PhD Thesis:
    • Written in English
    • Approx. 60,000 words
  • Publications
    • 01 articles published in Scopus indexed Journal (not compulsory)
    • 01 paper presented at an international conference

8. Fee & Payments

  • Registration fee: RM 1600 (≈ VND 8,400,000)
  • Tuition fee: RM 22,600/ 3 years (≈ VND 119,000,000/ 3 years)
    * May change depending on the exchange rate at certain time
